Geologic Stones Collection
To create this solid 925/1000 silver ring (19.6 grams), I used the lost wax casting technique. 1.4 cm wide with onyx (5.65 carats).
Before becoming a piece of jewelry, I sculpted it entirely in wax using only a saw, cutting at different angles each time, creating different layers to cast it in silver.
I then applied a patina to give my work even more depth.
Geologic Collection - Solid Silver and Onyx Rings
Material: Solid silver 925/1000
Stone: Onyx (5.65 carats)
Weight: 19.6 grams
Geology, a science whose main object of study is the Earth, encompasses multiple disciplines. The collection of rings by Anthony Barrouyer associated with this theme also presents a style of jewelry with a common spirit but different characteristics. The rings, pendants, and bracelets are made of solid silver with a legal fineness of 925/1000, sometimes combined with gold at a legal fineness of 750/1000, with or without gemstones. For some creations, the aesthetics achieved through the work of angles, hollows, and openings in the metal evoke the physiognomy of rocky landscapes, cliffs, crevices, rugged terrains marked by the erosion of time.
At times, the striations in the metal of the ring recall the layering of geological sedimentary rocks that can be observed in rocks. Other pieces of jewelry in 925/1000 silver and 750/1000 gold may resemble volcanic features, specifically volcanic rocks after an eruption, such as slag, where metals appear to have fused or melted, or even shattered under extreme heat.
Pendants from the Krazy Stones collection may evoke plate tectonics, with the superimposition of different pieces of 925/1000 silver giving a geometric yet asymmetrical style.
Finally, for other pieces, all unique as I must emphasize, there is a reference to speleology, more specifically to stalactites and stalagmites, forming and evolving in caves. Their shapes are irregular, elongated, and sometimes they appear to merge to form columns.
As you have understood, the Geologic Collection is a visual journey, with a raw, distinctive style where the aesthetics of the jewelry highlight the physical history of our complex and secretive planet.
