Geologic Collection - Solid Silver and Turquoise Rings
Material: Solid silver 925/1000
Stone: Turquoise (2.5 carats)
Weight: 16.4 grams
Geology, a science whose main object of study is the earth, encompasses many disciplines. The collection of rings by Anthony Barrouyer associated with this theme also presents a style of jewelry with a common spirit but different characteristics. The rings, pendants, and bracelets are made of solid silver at the legal fineness of 925/1000 sometimes combined with gold at the legal fineness of 750/1000, with or without precious or semiprecious stones. In some creations, the aesthetics achieved through the work of angles, hollows, and openings in the metal evoke the physiognomy of rocky landscapes, cliffs, crevices, escarpments, marked by the erosion of time.
Sometimes, the streaks in the metal of the ring resemble the layering of geological sedimentary rocks that can be observed in rocks. Other pieces of jewelry in 925/1000 silver and 750/1000 gold may resemble volcanic activity, specifically the appearance of volcanic rocks after an eruption like scoria, where metals seem to have fused or melted, or even shattered, under extreme heat.
Pendants from the Krazy Stones collection may evoke plate tectonics, with the superposition of different pieces of 925/1000 silver creating a geometric yet asymmetric style.
Finally, for other pieces, all unique as I mentioned, there is a reference to speleology, specifically stalactites and stalagmites found in caves. Their shapes are irregular, elongated, and sometimes they appear to come together to form columns.
As you have understood, the Geologic Collection is a visual journey, with a raw, distinctive style where the aesthetics of the jewelry underline the physical history of our complex and secretive planet.
